Public transportation

Southern California doesn't have much public transportation.  (Actually, we have it -- we just don't use it as much as other places.)  I love cars -- but I also think we could use more trains.  In your opinion, what places have the best public transit systems.

Hulio and Ralph gave two opinions, which make me think that Tokyo could be best.  I'd like some additional views

I haven't been to Tokyo; however, the following cities have excellent public transit networks:



New York
Chicago
London
Moscow
Paris
Berlin
Munich

I agree with the opionios above I would just like to point out that the system in London is the oldest and you can assume it developed accordingly.

Secondly a great factor in public transportation is the Olympics . I can tell by judging my own city Athens. You can examine cities before and after the Olympics they are totally different in public transportation means. We gained : a subway, electrical buses, tram .

Thanks, ridethisbike and Alfi.  I'll have to check out the websites for these transit systems.  Maybe I'll get to ride some of them someday.
