Protecting fingernails from breaking

What's the best way to protect my fingernails from breaking?  I like to keep my nails long ... but I hate it when I break a nail!

Hi, Here's something that may be helpful for you:Link
It also claims that unless you're really anemic with protein, a diet change (which I thought you'll benefit from) will not make your finger nails stronger.

Go to your local nail salon and request acrylic overlays.  It is just a layer of acrylic over your OWN nails.  You will have to do the upkeep (fills every two weeks, etc) but you can practically use your nails as screwdrivers with the overlay on (exaggerating a bit; don't try it LOL)

Thanks, Nicole and bathory313.  No more weak nails for me (I hope)!

Personally, I have soft, thin nails that peel & break all the time.  I heard about & then tried a product that I'm finding very good.  It's called:  'Nail-Tek'. It's sold in spas (I got mine in Kitchener Waterloo, Ontario).  I got my bottle the end of June & I actually have nails with white ends on them, which means that my nails are growing past the end of my fingers, so I'm very happy. They're looking better all the time. Thanks Nail-Tek.
