I think there was a female singer that got her first record contract by promoting her music through myspace.com. She performed live in front of her computer and it went out to millions of people. I cannot remember her name but I remember seeing something about it on E!.
Indie911 is good exposure for unsigned artists but avoid this two-timing, back-stabbing, underhanded waste of flesh that this website talks about http://www.suburbanhorror.com/features/hunted.php
If Kaytea and XO publicity was reputable, she would have insisted that Leah Hunter refund that $2400 knowing that no work had commenced. So ask questions before you get involved with anyone who claims that they can help you get noticed.

The best platform is this new site called Ourwave. You can promote your music and anyone has chance to be on the front page because they select it at random. I go there everyday and listen to music from all types of artists.
