Problems at the time I upload a .bmp file to my website

Hello Everybody, I have a concern...........I have a not so smart web designer, working in my website...........the problem is that I give him some artwork I did in a .bmp format, wich looks great offline, and at the moment he Upload it in my website the image turns into a complete disaster, sometimes with jagged edges, sometimes, with darker colors, like if he is using a cmyk filter or something !! at the moment he upload the image. So I'm wondering if this is a comon problem?, and if somebody have any idea why this is happening, and how to solve it,.........thank You!!

Last I checked, most browser don't support bitmap files. Choose some other format that is widely supported, like .gif, .jpg, or .png.

You may also be running into issues with the lack of "web-safe" colors, and the fact that every computer, monitor, display card, browser, and operating system will change the way an image is viewed by some small amount. A high-resolution image with lots of colors in it may look great to you, but look crappy to people visiting your site.

I strongly suggest finding some of Robin Williams' web design books, which are marvelous and probably available through your local library (Web Design Workshop is probably the best for your purposes).

Read up on the "web safe palette" a bit and some of what I've said might make more sense :-)

Good luck!

Might also be that the image placeholder he is using is the incorrect size, skewing the image so that it is blurred, jagged or visually poor.

Get er done

Plenty of web design information on the web...unless you want to spend your money on a paperback book...makes no sence to me.

Use www.irfanview.com its awsome!

I would always recommend using JPEGs or Gifs - depending on the image - larger files but they retain the image quality and display better across all browser platforms.
