I have a 2001 subaru, manual trans. When I leave for work in the morning, all is fine in reverse, 1st and 2nd. However, a few blocks from home, I shift into third for the first time and the car lugs heavily and kinda shakily thrusts and feels like it is going to stop. I always get stopped at the light after this and shift into 2nd. The rest of the drive, the car is fine in any gear (3rd included) no matter how many times I shift into or out of it. The car does the above described event both on a hill and flat ground.
However, when I leave to come home from work, this doesn't occur at all.
What could be the problem at hand? Is the car cold?
