Because there is a few Privacy Protection type software programs out there.
I have come across the above site and used their Privacy Protect software.
Privacy Protect is both a computer privacy protection software & internet privacy protection software
Plus points with it for me was that it goes beyond the DoD and NSA levels for securely deleting files (3 & 7 passes) to 35 passes of erasure, although it offered the 3 & 7 passes levels too. It supported 200 other programs via plugins, it had a handy little feature that attached to the recycle bin to securely delete files, had a lot of other computer and internet based specific options and some advanced settings. The other plus point was a book on Identity Theft and how to protect yourself was also included.
With Desktop Maestro it is by a familar company PC Tools, it does not support Windows 7 yet though, if that might be important?. Desktop Maestro does offer some more involved Windows registry settings compared to Privacy Protect. But it is an internet tracks eraser, and does not offer the computer related tracks eraser features of Privacy Protect. Desktop Maestro supports 50 plugins, and uses DoD/NSA level of data erasure.
