Preventing Eating Disorders in your Kids

How can you make sure your soon to be teen daughter doesn't develop an eating disorder?

I see her friends and they're all concerned with how they look and how thin they are etc. If you ask me, half of them are already on their way to eating disorders. I don't want my daughter to be obsessed like that.

I think the most important thing is to encourage your daughter and let her know that she is beautiful just the way she is. Do not obsess about weight or health and just set a good example for her that living a healthy lifestyle is the best way to look and feel good. When I was growing up my parents used to discuss weight issues in our society openly and because I developed early and was insecure about my curves, my mother even showed me an article about how women are thin for other women, not for men! I soon realized this to be true and have not been insecure about my body since. Talk to your daughter and make sure she knows how beautiful she is.

Hi Chris,
The best way to prevent your kids from a eating disorder is to educate them about it. Also, explain them what could be the cause of eating disorders and problems they might face because of it.

Hi Chris, Eating disorder can be avoid when you are paying attention to your daughter's growth and advice her everynow and then to be aware of not getting in that way in order for her not to regret. Guidance of parents is the most important to see their children in good growth.

Eating disorders can lead to undernourishment for your kids.  So before anything else goes to worse, teach your kids the proper way of healthy diet.  Most of all, right exercise is very essential to keep them healthy and fit.
