I am looking for a presure washer for myself....I am a female and how big of one do I need to use on my deck? I would like it to be electric....is that good? What is the most important item on the washer that I should look for. Thanks
I would not recommend using a power washer on your deck. They will easily cut thru the wood and damage it. Using a simple water hose would be better. A small electric washer will do most house hold jobs. But if you need to clean concrete (drive way) oil and other stains, Clean your house prior to painting you gonna need a lot of power. About 2500 to 3000 PSI. Just as important is the GPM (Gallons of water per minute) It will need about 5 to 8 horsepower gas engine. They cost about $800 to $1000 to buy. $150 per 4 hour to rent. Smaller household units would cost around $150 to $200 to purchase. Most important thing on a power washer is gallons per minute rate. The water does more cleaning power than the air pressure rating. A cheap washer will give you lots of air pressure and less water. Models that provide good GPM rates will cost a little more too. They are worth the extra cost..
I would recommend a HONDA GX series. Anything with a 12HP and atleast 3500Psi would do the deck job for you. Just be sure not to point the wand down at the deck. JUST KEEP IT IN THE AIR :)
Hi, I have just bought a gas powered pressure washer from pressurewasherbitz.com.
I think they are far better to an electric powered washer as the GPM is much higher, yes they can damage wooden decking - but you have to hold them away and use the right nozzle - easy!
