Do you think it is wrong for an American President to "campaign" while on an official state visit to another country?

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,
The answer to your question is: No
I believe you reffer to Bush's remark on Wednesday.  I am not sure it was a "campaign" remark.... I think it's was a general remark without reffering to anyone specifically.....
Best regards,

If it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

Many Americans are living out of the country and can vote by absentee ballot in elections, so they deserve to be campaigned at.  I can't see the advantage to campaigning to these people, and of course, it shouldn't be on an "official" visit paid by taxpayers, but they are voters and should have to put up with the embarrassment the same as the rest of us.  What people in other countries make of our incessant politicking I can't say, but I bet it is not flattering.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

Apparently the Democrats do, because they have been using this issue ever since Bush made his speech in Jerusalem a few days ago. It will be interesting to see if this will stay on the front pages or it will be old news in a few days.

No one holding a federal elected position should be able to  "campaign" at any time. A group may campain for him but not the person holding federal office. They are a paid full time employee of the American people and should not be campaigning on my dime n time.

Especially top lame ducks.

So Ronald Reagan should not have campaigned while on State business??  Bull.  He did and I myself (and his Wife) call it "politics".

I think Obama needs to stop campaigning and get down to brass tacks. He is failing miserably as president.

It's odd that Republicans would disagree with concept as Nancy Reagan (in her only interview in years) has given President Obama's Wife a lot of advisement about State Dinners and campaigning for the United States overseas.  I suppose that Reagans do not count to todays Repubilicans (George and Lara Bush did not do as she suggested) and therefore it's up to the Democrats to carry on the traditions of Ronald and Nancy Reagan.  Ba-rack on.
