Praying for Lost

It is good to pray for the lost. As for those who profess to be Christians and do not live up to christian standards......remember we are all sinners. Some have a harder time being all they can be as followers of Our Lord. Do not judge anyone.

Keep me in your prayers as I am one who is still struggleing to live a true christian life.

Hi Douglas,   In answer to your question, I agree with Lido.  It is not our calling to judge wheather or not some one is walking the straight and narrow,  however, I do believe that we are suppose to pray for those who have slipped away.  Remember the story about the Ninety and nine?  Jesus went after the one tlittle sheep that had left the flock.  We are also reminded that we should pray for our enemies.  I think if God wanted us to pray for those who dislike us, then we should pray for the "little sheep who have gone astray."  Pray changes things, and if you have the mind, heart and ability to pray for those you are apparently burdened about...please do just that.  You will have a blessing in store.  God bless you.  So happy you are a Christian.  Keep up the good work, and please...keep praying.

Great answers so far.  I know that it may rub you the wrong way to pray for someone who says they believe in Christ and still do not live a christian life.  I pray for God to give me opportunities to lead people to Christ and for Him to work His will in me first.  It can be frustrating if it is someone you care about when you see them going down the wrong path.  We plant the seeds, God waters the garden and makes it grow.  Do not grow weary.  He will finish the work He has started in each of us.

I was just such a one for a very long time. I thought I was a Christian but in realilty had never known Him. There was a 28 year old divorced lady who began crying out to God to save lost teens. I was one of those who's heart was awakened. Thanks be to God she prayed and my heart was stirred.

The parable of the prodigal son is another illustration that helps us glimpse a little of God's heart for His wayward "sons". The prodigal was still a son even in His rebellion.

some of those are really born-again believers. so you need to pray for them that God may lead them to realize they're not living a Christ-like life and to help them be an example before others of how a real Christian should be like.

but others think that they are believers while they are not. and here, too, you should pray for them that God may make them realize the truth to turn to Him and start a new life.
