Does Islam need Power to be Recognized? By: Hasan Yahya, Professor of Sociology Al-Imam al-Hussein the Martyr of Karbala', was in his way to al-Kufah, he met the great poet, al-Firazdaq. So he asked him, how do you see the Muslims in al-Kufa? After a long silence, al-Firazdaq said: Their hearts are with you, but their swords against you. Muslims these days are in serious need for the hearts and the sword powers to regain dignity. Even though I strongly support the first option. Where development is mostly needed mentally, culturally, and psychologically. But the world does not respect the materially weak nation. The power of Islam is its simplicity and noble spiritual ethics rather than material power. Others are becoming more and more aware of Islamic faith simplicity and therefore convert in large numbers everywhere freely. An American asked a Jewish anti-Islam journalist after lecturing and establishing a webpage to attacking Islam (Qur'an, Sunnah, and Muslims). Some of his points are logical though. Robert Spencer, was suspicious of truth about most Muslims reject terrorism. Someone asked him: If you are attacking Islam : Why do so many people convert to Islam? His answer was: "There are many attractive elements of the religion. I think that its adamantine certainties appeal to many people who are disgusted with the current relativism and amorality of the Western world. Also there are many rich and grand aspects of Islamic history and culture which also make the religion attractive today. The global jihad against the West today also helps Islam gather converts in the West from among groups that feel themselves to be oppressed or marginalized. Conversions have been stimulated by successful, if often fanciful, Muslim efforts to present Islam as a religion free of the sins of the West -- particularly racial discrimination. We don't need to defend Islam, Islam finds its way. Muslims today can be described as the fish for someone's dinner, grilled on fire, or skinned by knife. But the fish might stop somewhere between the mouth and the stomach, and may kill the eater. The experience of religion through history can be explained by social scientist who studied religion, as a cause of many human actions. Their findings show that religion is the factor of unity where people can come together and form a strong unity. But in the same time Religion plays the factor of disunity and makes people in the same nation fight each other. Examples will be given in other article. (416 words)www.hasanyahya.com

Religion and Peace

I would call myself an omnireligionist despite being an ordained minister with a doctorate in divinity. Translation: I don’t really care what you believe, I care that you believe. I believe that belief is a deeply personal matter and that it’s up to each soul to discover what works for her or him. That said, Professor Breger’s ideas about diplomacy and religion delighted me.

War in Iraq, George W. Bush

Accomplished? On May 1, President Bush triumphantly proclaimed the end of combat operations, and he did it with a theatrical flourish. Attired in a Navy flight suit, the former Air National Guard trainee (Bush had actually cut short his flight training to participate in a political campaign) landed ceremoniously on the deck of the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln off San Diego.

Troop Surge In Iraq Will Deepen Quagmire

It looks like President Bush is going to announce a "temporary increase" in the number of American troops serving in Iraq. The President is adding complexity to a series of wrong decisions he has made since the beginning of the invasion. It is difficult to imagine how a surge in...

Does religion cause terrorism

Religion as a Source of Terrorism. Media sound images of a Muslim terrorist shouting “Allah is the greatest! Allah is the greatest!” as one of the four 9/11 hijacked jets was spiraling toward the ground in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, left an indelible mark of association between Islam jihadists and terrorism. Such a connection is not unique to Islam. Comparable images were etched in people’s minds about Christianity by the Crusades and the Inquisition, by John Brown’s nineteenth-century killings
