I am 5 days post-op from the Birmingham Hip resurfacing procedure.  Is swelling around the thigh, hip and knee "normal?"  It started on day 4. How long does it take to subside? I was not expecting this as a side effect or this being a part of the recovery process? It is not in my calf or ankle.  My surgeon is not concerned.  Should he be?
