I have a considerable investment in a 403b fixed retirement account (annuity) with AIG Retirement (formerly Valic). The share price of AIG has plunged from a 52-week high of $70 to $14 currently. If AIG goes bankrupt, will I lose my savings?
I heard they just got an 85 billion loan, so probably they van get some breathing space now.
I'm not sure the right thing to do is take your savings out, though I'm guessing many will try to do just that. Just make sure you're not required to pay astronomical fines for early withdrawals.
