I like this question and I know exactly what you are thinking.

Pork or better known as pork barrellegislation is the use of government money (tax payer dollars) to fund special projects; I prefer to cal them for what they are pet projects for votes.

Extortion is a criminal offense. This is when a person demands money or property from another person by  the use of coercion or intimidation or threatens to use physical harm unless they are paid money or property. A simple phrase  like "pay up or else" is extortion and some lawsuits are as well.

I know you are looking at D.C. on this question and what you are thinking is could be true but the one thing that would make it fit the term of extortion it would probably have to fall under intimidation.

I do know of several things they can be held accountable for including Obama and that is the signing of any legislation with out reading it. One you probably are familiar with is cap and trade. This would fall under taxation without proper representation.

I am extremely disappointed in our city, state, and federal elected officials.  As a citizen of the United States I believe it is the responsibility of every citizen to care and develop our children's moral values by modeling integrity, respect, honesty, and respect for the value and worth of each individual. We have an obligation to our children and future generations to behave civilly and honor truth above all else. We are also called to contribute to a positive and healthy community by getting to know the needs of others and work cooperatively to ensure that these needs are met in a fair and just bipartisan manner.  I am saddened to watch our country reject our core values and to create a culture that supports and rewards greed, corruption, and special interests, as witnessed not only in the behavior of our media but elected officials.  This new “American” culture and the social and resulting economic decisions have led to the current economic meltdown, the mortgage crisis, high un-employment, the health care crisis and the mudslinging we see in the US Congress and Senate, and the pitiful personal character attacks that are now the norm on national television.

When facing challenges, conflict is inevitable and must be engaged with a collaborative rather than adversarial tone. I am troubled and disillusioned in behavior of our elected officials, Democrats and Republicans alike, the petty gossip, collusion and abusive language is unhealthy and demoralizing and just plain Un-American. Healthcare, employment, are not party issue, they are human issues. I for one will stand up for and support open and honest debate that is based on research, verified data and facts not opinion, party values and feelings. As US citizens it is time for all of us to demand our elected officials take the time needed to evaluate the critical issues to ensure they make decisions that will lead to long term systemic changes.  We need to take the time to read the bills, research the data, examine the Pork, analyze the options and get the input of the citizens. We need to begin with reforming our government, one senator or congress person at a time.  Speak up, the corruption is systemic and bipartisan, speak up and let our government know we want “real change”, change that cares and values integrity, respect, honesty and values the worth of all citizens, not just those who’s ideology matches our own.

To Janie Andrich, I believe  the question that was asked was what is the difference between Pork and Extortion. I merely told the truth of the difference between the two. If you think that it is okay for Obama and congress to sign legeslation with out reading it then God help us all. If you think for one minute that these politicians are really concerned about you and your family will lady your in for a big disappointment. I have watched what is going on in D.C. for a number of years and I can tell you this we are headed down the wrong road. I would be willing to bet that you don't even know about House Joint Resolution No. 5 or about the grass roots group that started a web site to gain donations to abolish the 22nd Amendment. You can check it out yourself at End22.com. Not everyone lies and I know I don't. Oh yes House Joint Resolution No.5 was introduced to the House upon Obama taking office it was introduced by a New York Representative by the name of Jose Serrano. It was designed to abolish the 22nd Amendment also. As of yet it has not happened.

I don't know what I said that made you assume that I am ignorant of political and iedological mindsets and the change in the US World View. Your response came off harsh and judgemental.  When the facts would support that we probably are in agreement about the current climate in Washington.

I beleive PORK should be illegal, I know it isn't considered extoriton, but it is a sort of extortion, if you do this for me I will support your bill, with little or no regard for what is good for the people.  I also think they make the bills so cumberson and hard to understand that no one reads them as a tactic.  Shame on our legislators for passing bills they dont understand and don't or wont read.  A bigger shame on us for allowing them to stay in office. I am very disapointed in all three branches.  Please don't assume what I meant in my respone, you are most welcome to ask and am happy to respond.

Sorry I didn't mean to come across harsh, but I get really angry with the people in D.C. I see what is going on and I know what is going on. I don't like what I see.

Yes pork should be illegal and I am sure in one sense it is; it is being able to prove it.

I know on the health care bill; this was a trade off between Pelosi and Obama. She wanted cape and trade really bad as did a few others. I can explain this real easy.

See Nancy Pelosi and her husband have invested between $50,000.00 and $100,000.00 in T. Boone Pickens Clean Energy Fuels legislation. Also Edward Markey who was one of the lead authors of the three hundred pages they had at hand but didn't read he has investments between $51,000.00 and $115,000.00 in The First Hand Technoloy Value Fund. Three of the top ten holdings in the Ohio fund are Solar energy manufacturers.  Also in 2008 Representative Joe Barton was paid between $2,500.00 and $5,000.00 from Carizo Oil and Gas for exploration on his property and he sold shares in Reliant Energy which is a Houston power plant operator and bought stocks in EOG Resources which calls its self one of the largest independent oil and gas companies. Jeff Bingaman Dem. from New Mexico invested $22,000.00 in energy companies As of December 31st. Bingaman under his wifes name held between $15,000.00 and $50,000.00 in Energy Future Holdings Corp. This is a Dallas energy holding fund with former Secretary of State James Baker. In 2008 the Senator bought and sold between $2,000.00 and $30,000.00 in Coal Holding Companies, Arch Coal, Inc. It is in Tulsa, Oklahoma; and also in other energy companies. S o the way I see it I feel that all this countries dirt lives and thrives in the White House and Congress.

I plan on going over the Constitution very carefully within the next few weeks if I can find one thing in it that makes prok against the Constitution I will let it be known.

I know every time they write up legislation it benefits the White House and Congress only and you and other Americans lose more rights. I would like for the American people to wake up and step out of their change blindness they stepped in and tell all in D.C. enough, no more. Take back your country and your rights; before it is to late.

Once again I didn't mean to sound angry with you or anyone else; but I am angry at what is going on. Just remember one thing the only losers at this time are the people of the United States of America until they decide to stand up and make the real change.
