They that would give up a little liberty for temporary safety will be left with neither. Benjamin Franklin

We need to shut down the Federal Reserve Bank to end the bailout madness and spending insanity for war, failed American corporations, etc. We need to use local private currencies instead of Federal Reserve Notes since the Central Bankers cannot be trusted and are run by the enemies of freedom and civilization. Write to your Congressman and Senators to support House Resolution 1207 (The Federal Reserve Transparency Act) and H.R. 833 (The Federal Reserve Abolition Act). Pontios: We need to use local private currencies instead of Federal Reserve Notes

me: So each state prints its own money? Between currency fluctuations, the greater ease of counterfeiting, and the costs of converting currency, prices would shoot up beyond recognition. Local businesses would lose out of state customers. Imagine the burdens imposed on Americans who wish to travel for business or on holiday across several states.

A common currency, something Americans have enjoyed since the 19th century, is one of the greatest advantage we have over European and Asian competitors.

As for the Federal Reserve, it's not often you find an institution supported by every American President since Woodrow Wilson. When FDR and Reagan, Nixon and Carter, Bush, Bush and Obama all support an institution, then that should be persuasive enough for every true liberal, conservative, Democrat and Republican.

I notice, ephraim, that you quote Benjamin Franklin. Surely you are aware that he was one of the first Americans to call for a common currency that would be used throughout all thirteen colonies.

I am sorry, but I think you really need to do some studying and deep thinking regarding that statement.

And I am stunned that the average American doesn't understand the damage that the current administration is doing to our country.  We don't have the money that is being spent.  We are not growing our economy.  We are expecting the government to take care of all of our problems.

A common currency stinks and is unconstitutional. Funny how the world is able to have many currencies and sustain itself. With fewer currencies in the world it creates more centralized control which is no good for the cause of liberty! Private individuals have the right to issue their own currency based on integrity and honesty.

You are obviously foolish thinking our Presidents have OUR best interests in mind!! THEY DON'T! Our "leaders" only care about the needs of influential corporations and banking interests. How could you be so ignorant? Every President will deceive the electorate. Every election will be a fraud due to Diebold electronic voting machines.

Steve, I don't think the poster who suggests separate currencies understands all the far reaching, midboggling problems associated with such an idea.
