can you put a pocket door in a constructed home

You can, but, to do so, you have to tear out the wall and rebuild it for a pocket door.  It can be expensive, but, It can be done.  There are studs in the wall every 16 to 18 " and they would be in the way, not to mention the 2X4 on the floor that would have to be removed for the door to slide in and out.  Not an easy task, and not recommended.
