Talk to him and explain your feeling, ask questions and ask him to tell you he loves you. This will give him permission to do so and then tell him you liked that and you love him and we need to do this more.

Well it looks like he just dosent want to be kind. Tell him when he needs you that you won't be there becaause you don't have time and here is some money. Some people you will never change because they are damaged. It would take more time and money than you have to get anywhere. Sorry you got a bum dad.
