Pleasant Valley State Prison Fungi Infection

Why is it that in the course of more than three years, and after 900 deaths in the proson, nobody really does anything to stop this?

Is it because once we put people away, we could care less what happens to them? What does that say about us as a nation?

In the article you linked to it says that there were more than 900 cases of the disease but the number of deaths is much smaller -- at least a dozen.

It's still a lot, but I don't think this number is big enough to justify your conclusions.

It was 12 deaths, not 900. Not that doesn't mean they shouldn't take steps to prevent this contamination.

If you read the article in its entirety, you will see that they are working on it and it is not just confined to the prisoners. It is affecting many others that work in and around the prison and surrounding area.

As a side note prisoners receive better health care than many others in this world and it is free to them.

I realized I didn't read carefully :-)

BTW I don't think prisoners have a good time of it if TV shows are to be believed. But that probably doesn't mean there are people who have less, and who did not commit crimes to be so destitute.
