Placing wide TV on a narrow chest of drawers

I bought an 29" TV (crt), and placed it on wooden chest of  drawers. The problem is that the drawer is narrower than the TV, leaving about 1.5 inches from each side of the screen not supported.

Can any harm be done to the TV by placing it like this for a long period?

In most televisions the wight is mainly around the center , it is also true for computer screens. For example just consider a non plasma PC screen , they sometime have a base on which the screen can move - but it is connected only at the center of the screen. if you have any reason to suspect that your television is different, just put under it a board , that would surely do the trick.
