Ping pong or bowling healthy?

I know that bowling and playing ping pong are considered sports but can they help a person get healthy and lose weight and build muscle?

Look around next time you're at the alley.  All you need to know about bowling is that the most famous bowler was that well known jock, Fred Flinstone.

If you're not out of breath and not moving a lot, we must be married.

Healthy in mind for it will relax you. But physically not that much, for what was said ^ above it was helpful if you will move a lot.  In bowling your movement is slow and your muscle will not get the sufficient exercise needed.

What goes around comes around

I think the only way these sports will help someone lose weight is if he/she get so involved in them that they forge to eat. There simply isn't enough activity in them to get a person's heart rate up. Bowling might help strengthen a bowlers arm and wrist but this isn't something that will have a great affect on one's health.

As a start they could be ok, but if you really want to become leaner you should probably look for more strenuous venues. Actually once you get in better shape your game will probably improve as well.

It's not the mountain we conquer... but ourselves

My rule is this: if I'm not out of breath at all, if I'm not moving a lot, and if I'm not sore the next day, than it wasn't really exercise.  Sure these are sports, but that doesn't mean you are actually getting exercise.  If you want exercise, you need to get both aerobic and muscle workouts.  This means that you have to be constantly moving for at least 20 min (for the aerobic) and to really work specific body parts until it hurts (for the muscle work out).

I dont mean to dissapoint you but unless your constantly moving i dont really think it is considerd a sport. Truthfully, i think ping pong is more of an exercize. But Who knows i can be rong!!?

anything that has you moving and makes you sweat is exercise.  sweat is calories being burnt.  so if it makes you sweat then you are exercising.

if you engage yourself in vigorous movement and constant changes of velocity and strike or throw the ball hard with just your muscle (not using your weight to enhance your playing) then it should shed you a few pounds, work your heart at a progressive rate, and over time, build some muscle. but only if you do this many hours a day at least 3 times a week. so, they generally would be very ineffective.
