Piggy bank

I broke a couple of them during my lifetime. and I was wondering if the piggy bank method is still affective ? Anything new?

A piggy bank is good as long as it is periodically empied and the money brought to a bank where it can earn interest.

If you are talking about the accumulation of loose change:  it's called a jar.

Once full, no need to break it.  Just roll the contents and bring them to a bank, or bring the jar to a change sorting and credit issuing machine.

It's fun to decorate.

If you mean a method of saving for a rainy day, set up an account that automatically draws from an account a set amount of money and let it sit until it has reached the savings you need liquid.

I think there is something very romantic about a piggy bank. The fact you don't know how much you've saved makes it really exciting to break.

If you are talking about saving money surely there are more effective ways such as bank accounts where money gains interest. If you're talking about small change then I would say anything that holds the money would do.

I personally would try to find a receptacle that isn't see through. That way you'll still have the surprise when you break it.
