Perhaps your outdated idea that atomic nuclei are made of protons and neutrons needs a bit of revision. May I please introduce you to the brave new world of . . . the truth? For example, quarks seen in protons (UDU) and in neutrons (DUD) are held together by pions (UD) charge carriers? Also, note that quarks dissociate in nuclei, and "fold in" one on another.
