You are going to have to bomb the house. I recommend Zodiac as it seems to be the best tolerated. The stuff by RAID is too strong and causes too many allergic reactions. You also want to spray down sofas, etc. Dog/cat bedding should be washed in hot water, bleach and soap. You can also use the Zodiac shampoo on yourself as well as it is for cats and gets rid of fleas, ticks, mites, lice. Its not toxic like the stuff used for humans. If you are ready to dye your hair, that works really well as well. The dog HAS to be washed. You can use a bar soap called Kirk's Coconut Castile Soap (my old groomer swore by it) and follow it up with a flea and tick bath if need be. You cannot, however, use by the flea and tick bath and then put a product such as frontline on it as it will cause a reaction. Use the Kirks and once the pet is dry, put the frontline plus on them. You may have to do the whole procedure a couple of times. If you have sandy soil outside, that is probably where they are coming from. When you bomb the house, all food has to be put away. If you have fish, you have to cover up the tank with plastic. All animals, including birds have to be removed from the premises. The house has to be closed up for about 2 hours for maximum effectiveness. I would pick a breezy day with low humidity if possible so you can air out your house well after this. Good Luck! Oh, you can use any flea/tick shampoo on birds so long as it has that it can be used for cats on the label.
