This question is for everyone who owns/uses a Cuisinart food processor. I was given one for Christmas and I have to say I'm not liking it as much as I should, especially given how much I suspect it costs. I am making spaghetti sauce so I decided to use it to chop my veggies. I began with 3 onions (all about the same size/each cut into quarters) - so how come the damn pieces come out to be so uneven? Some are rather small, some are kind of elongated slices ... damn, but I hate this appliance. I am to the point that I would rather chop everything by hand despite the fact that doing so will take me hours longer than using the Cuisinart - but I just do not like the Cuisinart's results! Is it just me? Or is this a design flaw? Anyone have any tips as to how to get around this problem?
And He scores!!!!
Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.
It is doing the job it was designed for. The fact that it has rapidly rotataing blades means that uniformity of product is not possible.

I got one as a gift years ago and used it from time to time, I haven't had it out of the cabinet in probably 15 years. I consider the appliance to be a waste of money. I got one of those "as seen on TV" choppers about a year ago and I use it far more than I ever used the Cuisinart. I should put it in a garage sale.
Hi
I have had a Cuisenart for many years and was not happy with its performance. Recently the motor burnt out and I bought a Kitchen Aid. Well...now I look for things to make so that I can use my Kitchen Aid processor. I love it. It works great! Hope this helps.

Really? Wow! Would you take a minute and explain the differences between the two so I can fantasize about it? I just used the darn Cuisinart to chop all my spaghetti sauce ingredients (peppers, celery, onion, garlic, mushrooms) and it seems I had two choices: uneven hunks or pulverized bits... frustrating! I ultimately went with pulverized bits since I was actually going to use the sauce to make lasagne; had I been planning to have spaghetti I would have switched to knife/cutting board and a long afternoon in the kitchen!
You hit the nail right on the head. I never could get the size or type of chop I needed with the Cusininart. In the beginning I thought it was my inexperience with the machine. However that was not the case. Also the Kitchen Aid seems to chop faster. I am looking foward to enhance my blade collection with the purchase of different types.
Groan... I'm so jealous! I find myself wishing the darn thing was defective so my boyfriend would have to return it and I could get something else - but since I hardly ever use the POS, that's not too likely (more's the pity).
