does the perfect pushup actually work better than weights and if so how. I have used it and in 5 to 10 days my chest feels fuller and looks bigger, why do they work better than lifting weights at making your chest bigger even when I max out at bench press at about 290. Also I am about 9 percent bodyfat so I know that my chest isnt looking bigger because I have lost fat.
If this is what you mean by the perfect pushup , then I can tell you that it's different types of muscles you are targeting.
Generally if you want big muscles, I mean big volume, then you should go for exercises that makes the muscle tired. That means lots of repetitions on a medium weight and many sets.
On the other hand, If you want power and very strong muscles you should do very few repetitions but put on more weight.
Take breast muscles for example:
If you want large breast muscles, then you should use the perfect push ups maybe 4 - 6 * MAX.
This means that 4 - 6 sets and every set you continue to do so many pushups you can manage.
On the other hand, If you want very strong and powerful breast muscles, Then you would do an exercise like benchpress and put on more weight with fewer reps.
For example:
set1 4*70% of your 1 repetition max
set2 3*80% of your 1 repetition max
set3 2*90% of your 1 repetition max
set4 1*100% of your 1 repetition max
set5 1*105% of your 1 repetition max
set6 3*85% of your 1 repetition max
It's two different sorts of muscle fibres you are exercising in these two examples.
Hope it helps!
