What do People Waste Money On?

Money doesn't grow on trees, which is a shame....

What would you consider money down the drain?

What do you think people spend money on, but shouldn't?

This is pure money down the drain and what people shouldn't spend their money on:

  1. Eating and Drinking out - this one is huge.  Buy groceries, make simple meals and have people over instead!
  2. Buying clothing and other goods (either too many they will never use, or for overpriced items) - Separate your needs from your wants, and if it is a want, figure out what value the item actually has in your life.  And if you can, buy used!  No one will know, unless you tell them.
  3. Gambling - discretionary fun with friends can be fun, but this is money that you will for the most part that you won't get back.  So do this very little.  And the lottery?  Forget it.
  4. Smoking - your paying people and companies to kill you.  If you are addicted, try to quit each and every day!  If you skip buying a pack or two every week, it's money in the bank.
  5. Cabs instead of mass transit -  why pay 10x the fare to go from point a to point b?
  6. Bank account fees from ATMS - take out a huge amount of cash.  It counts as one transaction, and hold onto it.
  7. Credit card interest - stop using the credit card, except for emergencies, or for large items that you don't want to walk around carrying cash for, but pay this leech off.  Never use it to buy stuff you will not have after a day (food, gas, etc).  Why potentially pay interest on things you don't even have to sell off?

Ooooh and bottled water! You can spend more on one tiny bottle of water than a whole gallon from the Culligan or penguin ice machines usually found inside any Wal-Mart.It's good purified water at 33 cents a gallon.
