Pension or retirement?? What's the difference??

 I have retired from military with a 20 year letter. I am 53 years old and have applied for unemployment. The edd says i do not qualify for edd. My question is are military retirement and pension the same?? Please help. Sincerely sfc

I was never in the military so I'm not exactly sure. I did, however, find some information about military retirement that may be helpful to compare to what I could find on military pensions .
