Are Pelosi and the Democrats Really That Stupid?

Are Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats really this stupid? They want to add a financial tax to the $700 billion bailout bill! The purpose is, after 5 years if they are loosing money on the deal after they are audited, a tax would be levied against the financial institutions to ease the burden on the taxpayers! Is she for real? And, how will the financial institutions come up with that tax, you morons? They will pass it down to the people who do business with them! The American taxpayers! So, not only will we foot the bill for the bailout , we will be footing the bill for the tax levied on the financial institutions as well! What a deal!

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

MarineReconDad,

Another way of looking at it is if this keeps up we could be a broke country one day. We are almost there. We owe so many other nations until our children will be 100 years old before we can pay off the debt. People are hurting and if there is anything that can be done, they ought to at least try. Those E-mails do not reflect the millions of people that are strecthed to the limit with lost jobs, high food prices, gas over $4.00 per gallon and home foreclosure. I bet she didn't get any E-mails from those folks. I am not in favor of bailing out wall street, but when my livelihood is effected, I expect our leaders to get up off their duffs and do something.

If we can spend 10 Billion dollars a month on a war that should have never been waged, then surely they can put up some money to protect the american people.

Don't get me wrong, I am not in support of bailing out wall street but when this country is headed into a recession, I expect some kind of action on behalf of the american people. I am willing to bet that those 30,000 E-mails came from the top 2% not the millions and millions of middle class who are struggling to make ends meet.

Obviously, the Republicans are smarter . The Democrats were running all over tv last night saying that the bill would be passed. Obama had already had it in his speech notes on the campaign telling people it would be passed, they had to be re-written! So much, for Obama getting the Dems in line ! He must have forgot the 50+ that voted with the Republicans on the vote! Washington was exactly where McCain and Obama should have been. One of them will be President and will inherit this mess! They should have a seat at the table! They are still being paid to be SENATORS first and CANDIDATES second. The bottom line is the American people Democrat and Republicans are over this smoke and mirror back door politics!

MarineReconDad,

Let me see if I understand this correctly. "Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats are really this stupid? They want to add a financial tax to the $700 billion bailout bill". However John Mccain suspended his campaign and rushed back to Washington to make sure that this bill was passed correctly. So he and the Republican House, has agreed on this bill, that the so called stupid democrats have put forward. What does that make Mccain and his Republican House, smart???? Wow! That's how it works.

That doesn't say to much about Mccain and the Republicans. Thanks for bringing this to light.

Yep, thanks to the smart Republicans, I lost a fortune today. They were so smart that they voted down a bill that damaged the economy and this country a great deal. The american people loss trillions of dollars today. That shows you how much they listen to John Mccain their leader. The house had more than enough Democrats to pass the bill 140. It was the 133 Republicans who had hurt feelings over something Pelosi said, so they voted NAY. They risked the American people's future over school yard games. I call that real smart. At least they gave John Mccain the credit he was looking for. I don't think he was looking for that kind of credit. If he had stayed out of it, I believe things would have been done properly. Like Obama said, it was no time to inject politics into the situation. We were in a crisis and Mccain wanted to play politics. He went to Washington and shook up things alright. That's why Obama did not want to go. This is no time to play Washington politics, america is in a crisis. I guess he did not put country first on this one. Before he went to Washington, they were close to a deal. After he got there, everything fell through. Don't take my word for it, watch the news.

The Republicans are really, really, smart. My wallet is hurting and they want to play games with the American people's future.

Be Blessed.

Here is a little taste from Maryland, Tippy. Barbara Mikulski as Democrat as you could ever have, 30.000 emails to her office, 8 in support. 1500 phone calls to her office 2 in support. The Republican congressman relatively the same. The people who voted against that bill did it because the people told them to. Which by the way is their job! They are to reflect the will of the people that elected them. NOT work some deal because it is better for THEM. They were NOT elected to vote on what was in their best interest. If this keeps up we could be a great country again someday!

Tippy, understand this. There are plenty of private investors who are willing to buy the assets these financial institutions are carrying (like Warren Buffet) at the value of the assets. These instituions will continue to "freeze" the credit and hold onto these assets because they know that the feds are coming to the rescue and pay 20,30 or 40% more than the value of the assets. If the feds didn't send that message they would sell to the private investors and you and I(you are not the only ones that lost money) would be on the hook for very little. Sometimes, telegraphing you're intent sends the wrong message! That is why even though I lost this week, I feel we will lose more, if we have to bail these"losers" out, with no guarantee of success. The market WILL come back it always does. That is why it important to reward success and weed out the failures. What they government should do, is give 100 billion to successful domestic companies to help them grow, not reward losers with 100 billion!
