Peace Talks

If it is a democracy, everybody should know.  If it is a monarchy or dictatorship, then no.

The goal is peace. if revealing details will not help the goal than why do it?
It is common knowledge that peace will be reached only through painful concessions like giving back the Golan heights. so better to keep it quite, as much as possible.

"The goal is peace. if revealing details will not help the goal than why do it?" ‎That's exacty the philosophy of all non-democratic rulers: "I know the goal, I know the best way to get the goal, so I won't let the public intervene, I know better then them". History proves that most of the time, the public knows better than every single ruler. That's why democratic countries are usually more successful than non-democratic ones. You can read about it in, for example, the book:  "The Wisdom of Crowds". 

Hiding the details from the public goes against the idea of democracy and prevents us from enjoying the wisdom of the crowd.

"The goal is peace" - yes, but who says the government knows better than the public what the best way to achieve peace is?

Than why are there closed sessions of government, parliamentary committees, courts and so on in the best democracies including Israel?

There has to be a balance, nothing is black or white.

The elected govenament of Israel have a mandate to negotiate without revealing details. only after achieving the final agreement it has the obligation to let the public know and ask for the parliament's approval. exactly like was done in 1977 in Camp David or in 1993 in Oslo. 

The Bush team made a number of concessions to Syria in the Srria Talks of 1992-2005-2007.  These were reasonable concessions: we bought their oil (contrary to the Carter Boycott) which did much to ease tensions.  Reagan and Bush Sr. did their best to end Carter's boycott but there is nothing more stubborn that a gerrymandering jackass.  Clinton screwed things up unforgivably.

Only Bush Jr. had the wisdom and the clout to bring warlike Syria to the negotiating table.  It wasn't the best deal, but we got back 227 American students from their prisons, and 49 doctors held incommunicado on the suspicion that they might be Christian.  After all, they cared for wounded Jewish kindergarten children after a Muslim suicide bomber attacked their kindergarten.  Four of the doctors were kidnapped.  One suffered decapitation.

Syria has yet to apologize.

Now, Syria is in the middle of the biggest offensive NBC weapons buildup in history, that they started when it became clear that Obama would undo absolutely everything that Bush and Co. ever did.

Gentlemen, the fuse to WWIII has been lit.  That is not the way to negotiate peace.
