Naming a baby is very important. In some Asian societies, some people pay a Feng Shui master to name their children. Is there an equivalent in Western society?
Not that I heard of, but I guess the whole "god parent" issue is relevant in a similar manner. Although I have never heard of someone paying someone to become their kids' godparents.

People in North America now often choose to take foreign names for their babies, since they sound more exotic. It would mostly be South American or Eastern European names.
