A woman ( Paulette Lynn Spears of Minnehaha, Vancouver) got arrested when her son called 911 because he was afraid she's driving drunk. This was not the first time...
As a mother, do you applaud this behavior of the child?
Will you reprimand him?
Reward him?
We're not retreating... we're advancing in another direction.

at least the son knows enough to call the police. Of course the other isn't going to like it, but that's obvious. The child clearly did the right thing, fearing for the life of his mother and knowing she was breaking the law. If the child can't stop her, then what other choice does the child have but to ask for help.
The child desreves reward but this parent doesn't axactly sound like she's in the habit of doing what's best for her son
