Paula Abdul and her judging on American Idol

Does anyone find it unusual that Paula Abdul, who had one hit in the 1980s (Opposites Attract) is able to tell other potential singers on American Idol what the industry is looking for when she herself was only there for a very brief time? I mean, I know she just recently came out with a new song (Dance Like There's No Tomorrow) but this is only after nearly 2 decades and a lot of peer pressure from Randy Jackson (one of the other idol judges). Does she really know what she's talking about?

I actually think she's not a bad choice. She has been there, and she is obviously talented. And most of the hits industry has little to do with music and lots to do with show, so I'm guessing one former star is no worse than the other. At any rate her expertise has little to do with it. She needs to be "colorful" for the audience, so that we will all come back again to hear her discuss the contenders...

MY inferiority complex isn't as good as YOURS

I think she's a very talented dancer, but as far as sining goes she's slightly less than average. She's obviously creative but to me her opinion is entirely irrelevent. She's nice to the contestants which is why I like her.
