Why is Pat Tillman considered a "hero"? Is it NFL "political correctness" or simply stupidity on the part of those who glorify Tillman: he was a lower-rung linebacker and a lousy soldier. He should have stayed with the Cardinals and taken care of his family, instead of running off on a fool's errand to have his head blown off by his own squad members while he charged an enemy unit that didn't exist. Now his brother, and parents, completely disclaim the so-called "war on terriorism", and completely discount the Tillman brothers fervent patriotism as melodramatic, self-aborbed hogwash. Heros are born, and not made. Unfortunately Pat Tillman confused the battlefield with the football field and paid the price. Canton, Ohio, and the NFL Hall of Fame should never be disparaged by such a debacle. Leave war to soldiers, and football to the players of games.
every single soldier who has ever gone abroad and fought to protect our rights is a hero. it is people like him who make it possible for us to take our rights for granted.
Richard, You are about as ignorant as they come. You are "Stupidity Magnified". If you left the USA, this would be a much better country. Your lack of common sense is a sad reflection of you. I pity people like yourself. There wouldn't be a USA if it wasn't for people like Pat Tillman. He died serving his country, there is a no more honorable way to die. He sacrificed for a cause he and many believed in. All you are is a negative, jealous critic who I am sure has not accomplished much with your small life. It is people like Pat Tillman who make this the greatest country on earth. Get a clue, a heart, some brains, some history, some reality and a Life.
well richtard..you have never been in the service..i know this by the way you talk..pat was an exelent football player and i am sure an outstanding soldier..he was the most un selfish hero i have ever heard of.he left millions of dollars to go fight for me and everyone else in this country..yes he even fought for you to richtard..you would have taken the money and spent it like the fool you are..and said to hell with the country..thats as sad as the pathetic life you live..you wanted your 5 minutes of shame so here it is..get a grip dude and thank our soldiers and the man up stairs for every breath you take..without them you are nothing..or go with option number two..go tell a soldier to their face that they are lousy..we know you wont because they will stomp a mud hole in your ass.. so there is your 5 minutes of shame richtard
As to his football ability, Pat Tillman was, at the very least, a very good football player at the highest level of the sport. Think of all who play high school football and how few make it to the NFL. Your larger point is even more absurd. This was a wealthy young man--by your standards--who went to serve his country voluntarily in a cause he believed. From the comfort of your keyboard, you can second guess the mission and/or the cause, but you have that luxury because throughout the history of this country soldiers like Pat Tillman have protected you.
Because he gave up millions of $$$ to serve his country thats why!!!
He was a hero by joining the army because he thought his country needed him and he was ready to do what he could to help keep us safe. unfortunately we all know the sad story of what happened, but he is a HERO.
Man, you are a joke. There is no polotical correctness or spin doctoring involved here, it is simply a good man doing a good deed and paying the ultimate price. Reffering to military service as "a fools errand" is disgusting, without men like Mr. Tillman you would be scrubbing bathrooms for some foriegn conquerer. Disagree with the war, thats fine, I do too. But disagree with a man for trying to save the asses of scum like you? And even giving up a lucrative proffesion to do so? Having a problem with that, is downright near criminal. Next time you question a true good deed, think a little harder first with whatever birdbrain you so obviously posses.
Work hard or go home.
Richard, give Tillman some credit. He did what you couldn't or at least didn't want to. He left a comfortable lifestyle to fight a war against those opposed to freedom. He wasn't poor; he didn't join to get a free education. He left because he felt it was his responsibility to protect his family and families like his. In that respect, he is a true hero in my book. Don't try to minimize what he did because you lack the ability to do it yourself.
