Passport for staying oversease.

hi my daugther is an american citizen she is born in usa and go oversease now she as 7 months left on her passport . the passport will expired on the april 28/09 we are today in september 26/08 and wanted to no how many months she as to come back before her passport expired ?, and if they will renew a passport for her oversease ?she as a 5 years on her passport .And if she past the 6 months requirement what will happend can she go back in the usa? what exactly she will need? that will affect any kind of trip for her in the futur? tanks.
