When asked to bring a food or drink to a party, is it rude to take the leftovers with you when you leave? Should you leave it for the hostess?

Unless, you leave among the last, right at the end, I think you should restrain. Otherwise, you can ask the hostess, I'm sure she'll be glad to get rid of it.
