Fate will not be denied.  Destiny is what you make it.  Never confuse the two.

Paintings and poetry are unnecessary luxuries, no two ways about it.  If it comes to a choice between having food on the table or buying an expensive painting, the smart money is on groceries.  That goes double for poetry: there is plenty out there already so why write (or buy) any more of something we never really needed in the first place?

Pandering to ultra rich patrons of the arts is right-wing thievery taken to its logical conclusion.

Most artists and poets die stone cold broke because of the low quality of their stuff, anyway.

Where the government subsidizes artists, their work goes even worse yet and makes the country uglier than it was before.

I mean, take your pick: food for the kids and a month's rent, or a so-so painting on the wall, that you'll lose anyway when the landlord kicks you out for nonpayment of rent!

Which is the wiser purchase?
