Painting a log home exterior.

We own a two story cedar log home approximatey 12 years old. The original owners had painted it a putty brown color. :-(  We would like to restore it to a more natural cedar color. What would be the easiest way for us to accomplish this? Can we go directly over the paint, or do we need to strip it off?  We have powerwashed and applied sealent previously.  What do you suggest?

When a surface has been painted and you want it clear then you never want to add more items to the surface when what you need to do is remove the paint. It may need to sand blast with the right material not to eat away the wood. If what you want is to paint it a netural color then powerwash allow to dry and paint.
