I found the people at the USPS very unhelpful. It was great they located the information in the system on my registered package, the same data I can track myself. My package arrived Your item arrived in the United States in ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) at 6:07 PM on July 12, 2009 and now 10 days later I still don't have it and they cannot assist me further. They told me my Japanese contact had to initiate and investigation, which makes no sense, seeing as I have the tracking number. I asked the woman is the package sitting somewhere on a loading dock, is there a backlog of international stuff sitting somewhere, is there a union strike, is Japan on some type of 'package watch list', etc and she could not/would not give me any futher details and told me Japan had to start the investigation with the USPS. This makes no sense. I have my packages sent registered all the time from Japan and there is never any delay. Registered packages sometimes show up faster. A registered package should not be delayed by any stretch and should proceed past customs without incident. The fact that the woman could not tell me where it was and any reason for the delay is not appropriate. Can anyone offer any insight on what is happening with the USPS/US Customs in NYC?
