Can I use an outdoor grill for recipes calling for an indoor electric grill?

Yes, but the timings may not be the same. Timings for an electric indoor grill with a lid that closes over the food are a lot faster than they are for open grills. Generally, broiling times and outdoor grilling times are similar.
