I have a set of data which changes often and want to run a line chart in a column rather than a row (similar to ticker tape). So far have not been able to arrange this. Is there a way to assign categories to the Y axis and values to the X axis?
Hi, It works just the same as fixing the data in a row. When you source the chart go to the series tab, click on add, and then on the button right next to the X values. Mark the columned data and continue as usual. I hope I've correctly understood your question.

What I want to do is have the time scale (days) on the Y axis and the values on the X axis. It is not clear how this is achieved on Excel. This is in effect turning the chart through 90 degrees but this is not possible with Excel. The usual Excel chart has the time scale on the X axis and values on the Y axis and Excel defaults to this.
Have you tried the Scatter XY chart ?
Thanks for your help - I was directed to a site peltiertech.com which had a utility for doing exactly what I wanted to do
Thanks for taking time to reply.
