Organization, clutter, make max use out of space, donated help and/or things to organize etc.

I have a nice size apt but with very little storage. I have one bathroom/vanity wall closet of shelves, wall to wall mirrored closet, 2 tall dressers, 2 small (that sit on top of each other), I have a double bed bottom/twin bed top bunk bedand use the top for blankets and stuff but would like to better organize it then be easy to take down when people visit.  I have suitcases under the bed and a small shelf unit that I took a baby crib side, put it verticle ad hang on it over 100 antique silk scarves, antique sari's etc., took theother side, and vertically took my purses and hung them on it with ribbon.

In the bathroom all that I can fit is an approx 5"x5"x5' metal shelf but not well organized. There is NO other storage in the bedroom which has the vanity sink there and then the bathroom is tiny just a bowl & tub)

The living room is pretty big for a 1br apt. I've created one area with a futon*, ent center, wicker chair & ottoman and hand painted table my artist mom painted and a bookshelf of all my church books and so forth and this is the living room.  (* do you have ANY IDEA how to fluff up a futon matress? It's all uneven and not to comfy to lay on unable to take the mattress off myself (I've done it once and it hurt) to trn it and even it out but I can't figure ot how to fluff it out. If you have the answers and advice for that - you are truly even more of a miracleworker than I thought!)

There is another area that is near the front by the 15 foot wide and more than 6' high windows. I have 2 very tall bookshelves (already FULL) that hold my ASL teaching  materials, Deaf history/culture, a section of all the scripts I've ever done of every play, film,TV & more plus collector's selections of acting and tons more of books I need and use and that I use as a reference libraru. There is a matching white wicker dresser I use to hold office things paers and folders etc.

The kitchen area I have a great pullout table and a longer table sitting against thewall it has no drawers and I want it to be my work table for computer and sch. Right now I have the laptop on a sall TV table.  How could I organize this area to hold files small amount of books, ad ave workable area on table to old the scanner, printer, pencil sharpener, in/out thing to hold what I'm working on and several file cabinets (2 drawer vert but even better: a 2 level horizontal prof. office type as I can use it as a separator and place to put things on.

I have a set of 3 tables for the 'library' area where I want to put a wicker ergonomic recliner and make it into a 'library/meeting' area for when I have people over from church. I'm on a 4 member board and I can't have them here to share in the meeteing spaces because of the clutter.

I'm disabled with 5 spinal fusion failures, adult onset scoliosis which turned my ribcage to face left and the right ribs to be an inch fro y belly button, plus 6 knee surgeries and a knee replacement so I suffer from tremendous chronic pain, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and I can't do any of this myself. ie: had the Christmas tree up until MARCH then took it apart: well i dont have the boxes for the tree and have no help to even wrap and put away (where?) all the hundreds of ornaments I've got. So you can imagine the tough time I'm having. At my age I shouldn't have to live like this in the clutter and I can't get help or organizational help professionally as I can't afford it.  If there is anything you can suggest or someone that may be able to even donate the time to help and the materials to make shelves, fix the closet so everything can be put away and fit and make my office workable.

Thanks so very much

Jennifer

I can't paint here unless I paint it all back b4 I move out. Any ideas on how to show off my collections, photos and to store 30 and 50 gal containers of files and also a 50 gal container that has all kinds of life collectibles (ie: programs and more from all the plays and things I've done) and t-shirts I want to make into pillows. But how can I organize (very cheaply-I have no budget and am only on disability) and I need to keep my spinal and knee disabilities in mind with the can't reach, bend, lift etc. If there are any ideas to really make this great space - a home and roomy rid of clutter and filled with posters, photos collectibles and such (besides my wall to wall closet that doesn't fit all my stuff). Thanks! JD

If you want to make peace you don't talk to your friends, you talk to your enemies. - Moshe Dayan

The best thing you can do is minimize your clutter by getting rid of stuff that is unnecessary. Try contacting local volunteer organizations to see if there is someone who can help you with this. Good luck.

Jen:  I am restarting my organizing and redecorating services after 5yrs employed by the State but I would like to help you for a reduced fee and your permission to take before and after pics.   I anticipate business will soon pick up for the holidays but until it does, I would like to offer my assistance to help you with your apartment.  A little organization will go a long way to help you live a more comfortable life.  Melonie.Blanks@comcast.net, I wait to hear from you.  MB
