"The Order of the Generations" (in Judaism)

In Judaism: what exactly is the book "The Order of the Generations" (Seder Hadorot; סדר הדורות)? Is this name refers to a specific book, or to a genre of books? In case it refers to a specific book - who wrote it and when?
