One year warranty on front door

what does a one year warranty on a door cover

I purchased a front door and a year later it is cracking.  The company who installed it says I am responsible to pay for refinishing  ( staining) and rehanging costs but they will have the manufacturer replace the door for free. Is this correct?

If the manufacturer is replacing the door for "free" what are you paying for? Did you purchase an unfinished door? If you purchased an unfinished door, but hired someone to finish and hang the door and there is no problem with the finish or the hanging of the door, then this sounds right if the problem is only with the craftsmanship of the door. If you simply picked out a door and had nothing done to it except for having it hung, then you are getting ripped off. Check your paper work to see exactly what you paid for. Do you have a warranty?

I'm very sorry if I'm not being helpful, but in order to answer this question I would need to see your sales agreement. I myself am a handyman and a DIY'er, so I know that things are not always what they seem. The answer is all in your paperwork. If you don't have it then you just might get screwed. If the manufacturer finished the original door then you should not have to pay to have the new one finished. Was finishing the original door a seperate charge? who finished the door?
