When is it Too Late to Move Back with Your Parents?

What's the oldest age you would move back in with your parents? If you were 52 and lost your job, would you accept an invitation from your parents to move back into their home?

There is no age limit.  I would do it if I had to.

Family is forever, jobs come and go.

Is there an age that if my parents turned that I would turn them away from my home?  Never.

If my child was facing such a great difficulty in life they needed a hand up in their journey, I would offer that hand.

I wonder where the attitude that says that families of adult generations shouldn't live with each other?

I wouldn't wanna be in a club that wouldn't let me in...

I think it totally depends on your relationship with your parents, and how long we're talking about.  If you lost your job in your 50's and went to live with your parents for a couple weeks, I don't see a problem with this.  However, I think the child should be expected to pay for some of the groceries, to do work around the house, etc.  No one is going to baby the 50 year old.

It's never too late but I guess if you are not alone I know I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so.I think there must be some arrangements you should think of. Maybe paying some rent...

I would say it is never too late.  But you should be contributing in some way until you could get back on your feet.

Things happen in life and sometimes we don't see them coming. It is important to put some cash aside from every job to be prepared for situations such as this. If your parents don't have a problem with you moving back in why worry. Just don't be a burden, assist them as much as you can in whatever way you can. They are getting up in age too!  If my son was 52 & needed  help to get back on his feet I would love to have him home. What kind of relationship do you have with your parents? Are they in a position to have you back? Wink
