Old wall gas heater in apt. complex - how do I fix this problem?

Hi Eric: I live in an apt. complex: the heater is one of those old wall gas heaters that doesn't heat the bedroom behind it - how do I get this updated for saving energy & to make it work better, cleaner & how do I get the heat (heater is against living room wall facing out to the windows & next to door to bedroom - but can't get heat in the bedroom. Any ideas? should management do this how much does it cost?? Also when I turn the OLD painted over thermostat - it's supposed to turn on - it takes like 20 times before it does & it doesn't work - it's either got to be on 90 or nothing happens.Thank you

Sounds like you could use a complete overhaul of heating system. The thermostat definately needs attention. Be sure to include it in your conversation with the property owner as he is responsible for repairs to the system.  Suggest you advise him of your problem soon as winter is fast approaching.
