   I've collected coins for over 40 years and while I've not kept up with the market much the last two years and don't have the latest values, I can tell you that it depends on several factors; first, the condition of the coin, the mint mark--was it made in Philadelphia, Denver or Sacramento? The number of coins minted for that year and mint mark and the demand for the coin are all important considerations when appraising a coin. Without seeing it, I obviously have no idea of any of the above conditions, but, a ball park figure would be anywhere from 3 to 5 dollars lower end and could be worth many times that amount if its in great shape. I'd get a current copy of coin values, or coin world and they list the most up to date values for coins. Since silver has gone up since my 2007 redbook was printed, the prices I quoted are probably a little lower than today's market values. I was given a 1943 half dollar a few years ago ( Liberty Walking half ) and when I appraised its condition, I put it a very fine condition and its value at six dollars. If you ever decide to sell it, be sure you know its true appraised condition, for most pawn shops who deal with coins will appraise it at a lower grade than it actually is as they have to be able to turn around and make a profit off of the coin. Find someone you can trust to give you an appraisal. Some charge for this, so what I've done is tell people if I think its worth submitting to one of the major coin grading services, such as NGC, PCGS, etc. They charge a hefty sum for appraisal of the coin; but, if they certify it and encapsulate it, you can later sell it sight unseen and people won't question the grade as its been "certified," and that alone adds value to the price of the coin and with the companies standing behind they're grading services, you can rest easier knowing they've given your coin an expert grade in which you can then get it valued accordingly.
