Old Wooden Commemorative Beer Barrel

mabelDBarbaraear Folks, Hi and good morning. I have acquired a beer barrle, (large) that has a beatiful oil painting of a Clydesdale on the barrel head. It is signed, however, the signature is partially obscured by grain, but from what I can see it is " G D or J D , last name PAR..then 2 obscured letters, ..last 2 letters SE. Below the signature is "Copyright Barrle Art,Preston Indiana. Ive traced it back on copyrights to about 1933 or so. But, not sure. There is also a brass plate inscribed "Anheuser Busch Inc. The Year of The Clydesdale." Can anyone out there help me identify this? I believe it to be a commemorative piece as there is no bottom on the barrel.The oil painting is beautiful down to every detail. It had begun to crack and chip due to poor care given by the previous owner, but I spoke with a conservator from Sothebys and he kindly advised me how to stabilize and conserve the barrel so it will be protected henceforth, unless a safe falls on it or something.
