oceanside, ny and bus recommendation for Section 504 Team determining a student's initial eligibility to utilize the OMS bus because of doctors recommendation that she has scoliosis and that it is not recommended for her to walk 1.16 miles to school with a heavy book bag.
Normally to qualify for use of the School Bus in Oceanside,NY.s Middle School, the child must live 1.2 miles or over. She lives 1.16 miles from Middle school, thus does not automatically qualify. However, given the doctors diagnosis of Scoliosis and recommendation that she does NOT walk 1.12 miles to school and back with a heavy book bag, is it possible that she be granted permission to utilize the School bus which picks students up a mere 1 block away from our home?
