Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.

Is Obama against gun ownership?????

Is Obama going to take away our right to own a gun? Will we have to give up our right to gun ownership?

Obama and the Attempt to Destroy the Second Amendment

/Talk about a smoking gun.../

October 6, 2008 - by David T. Hardy
<http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/author/davidthardy/>

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama must demonstrate executive experience, but he remains strangely silent about his eight years (1994-2002) as a director of the Joyce Foundation <http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/funderprofile.asp?fndid=5310>, a billion dollar tax-exempt organization. He has one obvious reason: during his time as director, Joyce Foundation spent millions creating and supporting anti-gun organizations <http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=MmM2NjY3ZWEyNjE4MTMwMDlmNTA5NzE2M2Y2NDQ4ZTM=>.

There is another, less known, reason.

During Obama's tenure, the Joyce Foundation board planned and implemented a program targeting the Supreme Court. The workbegan five years into Obama's directorship, when the Foundation had experience in turning its millions into anti-gun "grassroots" organizations, but none at converting cash into legal scholarship.

The plan's objective was bold: the judicial obliteration of the Second Amendment.

Joyce's directors found a vulnerable point. When judges cannot rely upon past decisions, they sometimes turn to law review articles. Law reviews are impartial, and famed for meticulous cite-checking. They are also produced on a shoestring. Authors of articles receive no compensation; editors are law students who work for a tiny stipend.

In 1999, midway through Obama's tenure, the Joyce board voted <http://www.joycefdn.org/pdf/9909_WIP.pdf> to grant the /Chicago-Kent Law Review/ $84,000, a staggering sum by law review standards. The Review promptly published an issue in which /all/ articles attacked the individual right view of the Second Amendment.

In a breach of law review custom, Chicago-Kent let an "outsider" serve as editor; he was Carl Bogus, a faculty member of a different law school. Bogus had a unique distinction <http://law.rwu.edu/content/pdf/directory/faculty/CBogusCV.pd>: he had been a director of Handgun Control Inc. (today's Brady Campaign <http://www.bradycampaign.org/>), and was on the advisory board of the Joyce-funded Violence Policy Center <http://www.vpc.org/>.

Bogus solicited only articles hostile to the individual right view of the Second Amendment, offering authors $5,000 each. But word leaked out, and Prof. Randy Barnett of Boston University volunteered to write in defense of the individual right to arms. Bogus refused to allow him to write for the review, later explaining <http://armsandthelaw.com/archives/2005/04/carl_bogus_resp.php> that "sometimes a more balanced debate is best served by an unbalanced symposium." Prof. James Lindgren, a former Chicago-Kent faculty member, remembers <http://www.hnn.us/readcomment.php?id=7241&bheaders=1> that when Barnett sought an explanation he "was given conflicting reasons, but the opposition of the Joyce Foundation was one that surfaced at some time." Joyce had bought a veto power over the review's content.

Joyce Foundation apparently believed it held this power over the entire
university. Glenn Reynolds later recalled
<http://armsandthelaw.com/archives/2005/04/carl_bogus_resp.php> that
when he and two other professors were scheduled to discuss the Second
Amendment on campus, Joyce's staffers "objected strenuously" to their
being allowed to speak, protesting that Joyce Foundation was being
cheated by an "'agenda of balance' that was inconsistent with the
Symposium's purpose." Joyce next bought up an issue of Fordham Law
Review <http://www.bookrags.com/wiki/Joyce_Foundation#Law_review_symposia>.

The plan worked smoothly. One court, in the course of ruling
<http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/ca9/newopinions.nsf/CB340BA134E0B81688256CBB005A9417/$file/0115098.pdf?openelement
that there was no individual right to arms, cited the Chicago-Kent
articles eight times. Then, in 2001, a federal Court of Appeals in Texas
determined <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Emerson> that
the Second Amendment was an individual right.

The Joyce Foundation board (which still included Obama) responded by
expanding its attack on the Second Amendment. Its next move came when
Ohio State University announced it was establishing the "Second
Amendment Research Center" as a thinktank headed by
anti-individual-right historian Saul Cornell. Joyce put up no less than
$400,000 to bankroll its creation. The grant was awarded at the board's
December 2002 meeting,
<http://www.joycefdn.org/pdf/2003_jan_WIP.pdf>Obama's last function as a
Joyce director <http://www.joycefdn.org/pdf/2003_jan_WIP.pdf>. In
reporting the grant, the OSU magazine /Making History/ made clear that
the purpose was to influence a future Supreme Court case:

"The effort is timely: a series of test cases - based on a new wave
of scholarship, a recent decision by a federal Court of Appeals in
Texas, and a revised Justice Department policy-are working their way
through the courts. The litigants challenge the courts' traditional
reading of the Second Amendment as a protection of the states' right
to organize militia, asserting that the Amendment confers a much
broader right for individuals to own guns. The United States Supreme
Court is likely to resolve the debate within the next three to five
years."

(45:17-18; online link
<http://history.osu.edu/other/MH/Archive/MH2003.pdf>; slow).

The Center proceeded to generate articles denying the individual right
to arms. The OSU connection also gave Joyce an academic money laundry.

When it decided to buy an issue of the /Stanford Law and Policy Review/,
it had a cover. Joyce handed OSU $125,000
<http://www.joycefdn.org/pdf/2005-feb_WIP.pdf> for that purpose; all the law review editors knew was that OSU's Foundation granted them that breathtaking sum, and a helpful Prof. Cornell volunteered to organize the issue. (The review was later sufficiently embarrassed to publish an open letter <http://www.stanford.edu/group/slpr/statement.pdf> on the affair).

The Joyce directorate's plan almost succeeded. The individual rights
view won out in the /Heller/ Supreme Court appeal, but only by 5-4. The
four dissenters were persuaded in part by Joyce-funded writings, down to relying on an article which misled <http://works.bepress.com/david_hardy/3/> them on critical historical documents.

Having lost that fight, Obama now claims he always held the individual rights view of the Second Amendment, and that he "respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms." <http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/issues/additional/Obama_FactSheet_Western_Sportsmen.pdf

But as a Joyce director, Obama was involved in a wealthy foundation's attempt to manipulate the Supreme Court, buy legal scholarship, and obliterate the individual right to arms.

Voters who value the Constitution should ask whether someone who was party to that plan should be nominating future Supreme Court justices.

He was the principal author of the 1982 Report of the Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution, The Right to Keep and Bear Arms <http://www.constitution.org/mil/rkba82.pdf>.

World Class Hypocrites: NRA Endorses 'Enemy of the 2nd Amendment' McCain

Last update: 1:08 p.m. EDT Oct. 9, 2008

BETHESDA, Md., Oct 09, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The following is a statement by Ray Schoenke, President, American Hunters and Shooters:
Today, the National Rifle Association demonstrated once again that it is a partisan political entity, not an organization committed to the best interests of gun owners.
In 2001, the NRA's magazine, America's First Freedom, said that John McCain was "one of the premier flag carriers for the enemies of the Second Amendment." That came after McCain introduced federal legislation on gun show background checks, which came after McCain's appearances in television ads supporting referenda in Colorado and Oregon to require backgrounds checks at gun shows. The NRA vehemently opposed those measures, which were passed by voters. The ads can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1c4Ko2KvEw and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o545OWyD-k
In 2004, the NRA endorsed George Bush despite his long-standing support for renewal of the federal assault weapons ban, a measure also vehemently opposed by the NRA. In fact, John McCain voted for the renewal of the assault weapons ban in 2004, when he supported S. 1805, which included an amendment on assault weapons.
This history is important. It's hard to imagine any Democrat getting a similar pass from the NRA. In fact, the NRA has been going over Barack Obama's state senate record with a microscope to find any bad vote. Meanwhile, Obama has repeatedly expressed support for the Second Amendment and has even supported a key NRA bill in the U.S. Senate.
But, the NRA's long memory on Obama is contradicted by its lack of honest scrutiny of John McCain and his record. The GOP nominee mocked the NRA to its face by appearing in those TV ads in 2000 and serving as the lead sponsor for gun show legislation. The NRA is holding Obama accountable for votes taken 10 years ago, but giving McCain a pass for his actions within the past 8 years.
But, the leaders of the NRA always put their own political interests first. They're willing to spend the millions of dollars of their members' money to fight Obama when McCain has led the charge against the organization. The NRA is spending those millions to deceive its members and other gun owners. Three independent sources -- FactCheck.org, CNN and the Washington Post, have found the NRA's ads misleading and false.
And, the truth is that NRA has been selling out hunters on conservation interests for years. The organization that I head, the American Hunters and Shooters Association put out a comprehensive report showing that the NRA has support Members of Congress with the worst conservation records (Read the report at: www.realhuntersrealconservation.org). Our report showed that the NRA has stood with George Bush, John McCain, and the corporate lobbyists instead of standing up for hunters and shooters' interest in protecting our forests and public lands.
Today's action by the NRA wasn't unexpected. It just confirms that Wayne LaPierre has made that once great institution nothing but a pawn of the right wing conservative politicians.
A former Washington Redskin great and avid hunter who now runs a 300-acre hunting farm on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Ray Schoenke is the president of the American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA). Located in Maryland, AHSA is an organization committed to supporting the right to keep and bear arms, responsible gun ownership, and conservation.

American Hunters and Shooters is a shame organization created by the Left with the same goals as Sarah Brady. Many of the BOD from AH&S are on the board for the Brady Campaign.

IMO, not only is AH&S hypocrites, but they are the worst kind of thieving liars. Those who would take away your Constitutional Rights.

Just like Barry Hussein when it comes to Second Amendment Issues. Sarah Brady, Diane Feinstein and Obama are all blood siblings on that topic. If they have their way, guns and 2A will VANISH instantly.

What makes David Hardy an expert on Barack Obama? He wrote a few books. His information is about as credible as American Hunters.

Careful now, you're talking of an acquaintance. Hardy has proven his validity in years of research and in the actions he takes (pro bono) to protect the rights of the citizens of this country, and particularly those of Arizona.

Your level of ignorance on "killing animals for sport" is appalling.

If you have an once of self honesty, look up cased where state and local entities have banned hunting and see what happened to your beloved animals.

But then, you're likely one of those who believes meat comes from McDonalds.
