I live in Massachusetts and it is already this way. The people who can't afford insurance like say a waitress I know and others had their income tax refund held as a penalty. It is illegal in this state not to have insurance. In some ways it is good because they go according to one's income to get insurance through Mass Health. On generic meds, most are just as good as the Labels. Just a label with a name brand that has been advertised. Mostly Coumadin and thyroid meds are best as not being generic and some meds for "heart problems".

Yes but under the plan whos to say if we AMERICANS cannot afford health insurance under the proposed plan then whose to say they will not withhold all of us low income people TAX REFUND CHECKS to pay for this plan aloung with the FINES AND PENALITYS incurred as we cannot afford any health care at all. And yes a waitress works for less than anyone i know then above that they have taxes to pay on tips over and above. So no they do not make near min. wage. As that fact was on television the outher night. At $ 2.01 per hour and tips is all that girl makes per week now she cannot get help frome medicade to pay doctors bills she makes to much money.

And talking On generic meds, most are just as good as the Labels. Just a label with a name brand that but we cannot all get Coumadin meds. as for HEART AND SOME BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATIONS generics dont work as well. As the same with a seizier meds. Generic medations dont work as good for these problems as we need NAME BRANDS ONLY. AND OUR DOCTOR MAKES HIS PERSCRIPTIONS NAME BRAND ONLY as to the fact there not the same as some are not equlivents but used instead of name brands.
